Hi Guys

I am currently attempting an Amazonian style planted biotope and thanks to Tony sending me some plants, will be starting another very soon.

However I also have a 125l and an 85l tank that will be in for an overhaul. Anyone got any ideas of moderately easy biotopes to attempt..

Also recommendations of fish for them would be grand..

Cheers

Lee

Lol I pretty much came up with the same problem... I got Amazon style....and um....Amazon style...

Just thought there might be something out there that wouldnt be overly challenging but would look a little more unique than the Amazon..

I will keep searching google..  8)

I like the amazon biotopes, but the problem is that everyone tries it - including me! Now do some research for west africa and then you get a fantastic selection of plants. Anubias for instance - there are loads of options here! Take a look on the planted tanks website and I have listed some of the popular plants by region, west africa being one specific region.
Then look at north America. This brings in some wicked bacopas and if you select areas that include Canada or border Canada then you bring in the lobelia cardinalis. Now that plant comes into its own whenit reaches and breaks the water surface. Just hit google images and you will see exactly what I mean!

West African with Pelvicachromis spp? I'm partial to these though. Maybe a river bank with overhangs/caves for spawning.

I think that West African biotopes are a rarity - I would like to see more of these...

Another country to look at for biotopes would be China... more and more information about China is becoming available. As we stock Oriental plants - they may jump to the challenge as well - one of their MAJOR growing farms is located there as well!!!

Sri Lanka is nice with Cherry barbs, Black Ruby barbs and crypts.

Madagascar, Papua or Australia are all a bit different.
