good idea tony never considered that myself but one thing i am thinking in terms of r.o devices is maybe different manufacturers have better filters than others that would at minimum allow the filters to run longer than what mine was. also i hear of d.i resin but not really sure what the benefit is for having that has well or if it would make that much difference in a hard water area.

p.s sorry for thread hijack tom but you have got me wondering about different alternatives now  :D
