What Biotope you would like listed?
« on: April 04, 2011, 05:22:12 PM »
Hello, from Vivarium I obtained the most amazing book, from Christel Kasselman, Aquarienpflanzen, the book is in German and has about 200 biotopes listed.

I would like to use some of those biotopes so that Tony could get the plant packages ready.

What Biotopes would you like to have listed?

If you like plants, go and buy the book, I have not seen better book yet, and no, I am not lending it to anyone, it is autographed by the lady itlself. :)

I have a 2003 copy of her Aquarienpflanzen, translated into English, so your copy is much more recent. In my copy there are only 12 biotopes listed.  *:(*

I am biased... would love to see a complete biotope from Sabah, Malaysia... Specifically Borneo.

The copy I got is off the press.

Managed to blag it at 40 euros at the ADA shop and then raced to Christel to get it signed.

Will get the English version when it is out, but for now this is the best book, especially as some plant names changed.

Which tributary? The amazon itself has very few plants as the flow is too great... The water is too cloudy and the water is low in O2...

It is the tributries which carry the plants... otherwise you need to make water mega brown with clay particles... a few logs and boulders in the bottom and then find some mega strong fish!!!

Amazon bio is mostly emerged plants. The river is too deep and too cloudy to have plants.

Do lots of wood pieces, sandy bottom, large boulders and add angel fish, tetras and some catfish. Corys are only on the tributaries, not on the main river. Actually I think that even angel fish and tetras are on the tributaries.

In case anyone is watching this topic, I would love to see a South American River (like Orinoco or something similar) shown as a biotope...
Tank: Aqua One Aquience 800R 80x45x55, 175L
Filtration: Tetratec EX1200
Style: Work in Progress !!!

Most south american rivers, including the orinoco, do not have plants underwater.

I have done a peruvian biotope, mostly wood and floating plants.
